I am trying to install a SBS 2003 server in a small network. The PowerEdge 1900 that I got from Dell has only one NIC and I configured Linksys Router to use the SBS DHCP service. The IP address that I assigned to SBS is 192.168.16.2 with 255.255.255.0 subnet mask. The router IP is 192.168.16.1 and it is working as a gateway.
When I finished the wizard and entered the above IP address for SBS IP, I got a warning message that the scope is out of range and other clients might not be able to connect to the server. Anybody knows what causes the problem?
Thanks

Hi there,
you should have entered the SBS server IP address very much at the beginning of running the CEICW (wizard). According to your description you entered the IP address after running the wizard? or did you try to connect from another machine? It is not clear.
I suggest to disable DHCP on the router, run the SBS wizard enter the IP address in the wizard and let SBS be the DHCP server.
What is your network setup/outcome you are trying to achieve?

I agree with Bea, As a rule you normally only want 1 DHCP server. The SBS server is the better choice for running DHCP rather than the router. I would disable DHCP on the router.
If you choose to have two DHCP servers, you must make sure that the scopes do NOT overlap or you will have problems.
